BREIF: 1 x 30 documentary BBC 1

TIMESCALE: 10 months 

Having successfully pitched this unique and exploratory documentary idea to the BBC House 7 Films was commissioned to produce a 1x30 documentary film for a 1930 audience as part of the BBC series Our Lives.  

House 7 drove this film from inception to delivery, working in collaboration with partners where needed to add scale and efficiency.  

Lead director Nick Hartley forged a unique relationship with the fossil-hunting community of Wales to tell a tender and evocative story of people’s passion and drive as they dedicate their lives to their field of study.  

The project secured exclusive access to the National Museum of Wales as well as to areas of geology and palaeontology that were new to science.
